FIGARO TINTO CALATAYUD 2009, Spain
Figaro is 100% Garnacha, made from a selection of the best grapes grown in the oldest vineyards. While not truly an "oaked wine", a short stay in oak barrels provides a nice spicy flavor boost. Made at the Bodega Nino Jesus cooperative owned by some 150 grape growers. This 100 percent Garnacha is medium ruby in color, revealing fruity red plum aromas accented by vanilla coming from a short stay in oak barrels. Has a soft sweet attack of raspberry and very ripe plum fruit with a touch of vanilla spice. Although not very complicated, this is an honest, pleasing wine, and a good value, too.
"Bright violet. Dark berry and cherry aromas show a jammy aspect. Supple and gently sweet, with good lift to its black raspberry and boysenberry flavors. Smooth and broad on the finish, leaving behind a hint of spiciness. Extremely easy to drink and an excellent value."

LEOPARD'S LEAP PINOTAGE SHIRAZ 2010, South Africa
Soft and medium-bodied, this wine reflects the distinctive characteristics of both varietals in the blend. An ideal companion with roast pork or hearty stews, quiche or cold meats. Also on its own, it's a sheer delight!
