CH BARRABAQUE CANON-FRONSAC CUVEE PRESTIGE 2008, FRANCE
Mulled damson plum, maduro tobacco and spice notes are allied to a racy, medium-weight frame in this tangy red. Stretches out nicely in the glass, showing more flesh and persistence on the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink now through 2013. Wine Spectator 89 Pts    ON SALE - $ 24.98

CH DE CAMENSAC HAUT MEDOC 2008, FRANCE
The modern era for Camensac began in 1964, when the estate was purchased by the Forner brothers, who had plenty of experience in winemaking at Marqués de Cacères in Rioja, which they also owned. The brothers proceeded to turn things around at Camensac, with a program of extensive replanting of 85 hectares of vineyard, renovation of the winery and procurement of the services of consultant oenologist Professor Emile Peynaud. Chateau Camensac is a blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot reflecting the proportions in the vineyard, aged in oak (up to 70% new each vintage, although as little as 35% in some vintages) for as long as 20 months. Loaded with precious red currant aromas and flavors, the tasty 2008 Ch Camensac exhibts a zesty palate of fresh fruit flavors; lasting and cleansing in the aftertaste.    ON SALE - $ 27.98

CHÂTEAU HAUT-SURGET LALANDE-DE-POMEROL 2009, FRANCE
"Outstanding - A wine of superior character and style" - Wine Spectator!!!
This delicious Bordeaux Blend consists of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Cabernet Franc. It is aged 18 to 24 months in the finest close-grained French oak that provides just the desired amount of oak tannins and flavor. It has aromas of ripe red fruits which are an apt precursor to a concentrated wine. On the palate it is rather full-bodied and rich with a beautiful tannic structure that leads to a very long and luscious finish.

The lovely tannins, terrific structure, dark fruit and whisper of minerals make this Haut-Surget the perfect partner with lamb, beef, game birds and so much more. Our first choice is grilled beef tenderloin. Enjoy this beauty on its own or with food, either way - you are in for a treat!

"Blueberry and mineral aromas follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Enjoy the sweet and pretty fruit in this."
Wine Spectator 93 Pts    $ 29.99

CH GISCOURS MARGAUX 2008, FRANCE
The long, late harvest resulted in such ripeness at Ch. Giscours that, for the first time since 1995, 5% Cabernet Franc was of high enough quality to be added to the blend (along with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot). Lower than normal yields have created a concentrated wine with a creamy blackcurrant palate, fine-grained tannins and spicy, oak complexity. Almost Burgundian in structure, there is a lovely roundness to this wine which is completed by an impressively long finish: a beautiful wine. Drink 2013 - 2025

The sexy, opulent 2008 Giscours exhibits plenty of dark fruit, forest floor, and earthy notes, sweet, velvety tannin, and good fresh acids. This medium to full-bodied effort should prove to be outstanding with more time. Dark plum/garnet, this elegant, medium to full-bodied, beguiling, seductive 2008 is a sleeper of the vintage. Round and silky-smooth with lovely black cherry and black currant fruit imbued with touches of smoke, herbs and earth, this relatively evolved effort is best consumed over the next 15-17 years. - Wine Advocate 90 Pts - IWC 92 Pts    ON SALE - $ 54.98

CH LEOVILLE POYFERRE ST JULIEN 2008, FRANCE
"One of the finest over-achieving efforts in this vintage as well as a best buy for a top-flight St.-Julien, this 2008 is an irresistible success. It reveals an opaque ruby/purple color, lots of unctuosity and a boatload of sweet cassis and black cherry fruit intertwined with notions of licorice, smoke and oak. Full-bodied, remarkably concentrated and stunningly pure and textured, this sensational wine is already drinking well, and will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring. It should last for 20-25 years. Bravo!"
- Wine Advocate 94 Pts    ON SALE - $ 69.98

CH PONTET CANET PAUILLAC 2008, FRANCE
Nobody in Bordeaux is more attentive to detail than Alfred Tesseron is at Pontet-Canet. An absolutely amazing effort, it boasts an extraordinary bouquet of creme de cassis, graphite, charcoal, and incense, blockbuster depth, and full-bodied power. The tannins are high, but they are remarkably velvety. Sensational acidity gives the wine precision and vibrancy, but the impression is one of massive concentration and power. The 2008 Pontet-Canet, a candidate for the wine of the vintage, is a tour de force in viticultural precision and winemaking savoir faire. This would be a worthy addition to any cellar.

It boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo! - Wine Advocate 96 Pts    ON SALE - $ 109.98

CH TALBOT 2000 ST JULIEN, FRANCE
Beautiful aromas of raspberries, Indian spices, crushed flowers and berries. Full-bodied, with a solid core of ripe fruit and silky tannins. Long and delicious. A very fine and pretty wine. Best Talbot in years. Best after 2010.

This was a strong performance by the 2000 Talbot. It exhibits a dense ruby/plum/purple color in addition to a subtle herbaceousness intermixed with smoked meats, black currants, licorice, cedar, and foresty notes. Rich and full-bodied with light tannins, and a slightly richer, more savory, broader, deeper style than I remember, it should drink well for 10-15 years. Wine Spectator 93 Pts - Wine Advocate 94 Pts    $ 149.99

CH CALON SEGUR 2003, FRANCE
"Bottled in July, 2005, the saturated ruby/purple-colored 2003 exhibits a tightly-knit, but promising nose of mulberries, blackberries, cherries, and hints of new oak and truffles. This 60% Cabernet Sauvignon / 40% Merlot blend possesses a gorgeous texture as well as an expansive, exotic softness, and 13% alcohol (according to the proprietor, Madame Denise Gasqueton). Generous and rich, this high class, full-bodied wine will undoubtedly be more approachable than its closest spiritual sibling, the 1982. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2030." -Wine Advocate 94 Pts

"Loads of crushed berries, with mineral, lightly toasted oak and licorice. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. This is the sleeper of the vintage. Best after 2010." Wine Spectator 95 Pts    $ 149.99

CH CALON SEGUR ST ESTEPHE 2005, FRANCE
"Has a beautiful nose of crushed berry, spices and nutmeg, with a hint of coffee. Then turns to licorice. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long finish of vanilla, berry and cinnamon. Beautifully crafted. Best after 2014. Wine Spectator 93 Pts"

"This is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon (as ripe and impressive as Madame Gasqueton has ever seen) and 40% Merlot. The Merlot was harvested between September 15-22 and the Cabernet Sauvignon was brought in during the first two weeks of October. The result is a classic Calon-Segur exhibiting a dense purple color, ripe black cherry, cassis, smoke, earth, and new oak characteristics, powerful but sweet tannin, a huge texture, and broad, concentrated flavors."
Wine Advocate 94-96 Pts    $ 169.99

CH LEOVILLE POYFERRE 2005 ST. JULIEN, FRANCE
"This wine's heady rush of flavor gave one taster goosebumps. She called it sexy. "Formidable." Other technical descriptions included "the shazam," "has zazz," and "unprintable. That's some serious s#¡ ." At the en primeur tastings, this ap¬peared to be chunky and superripe. Now it's massive, with dark extract and exotic spice, a sophisticated wine that ends on sweetness, bitter chocolate and dark berry fruit. With all the flash, it will give a lot of pleasure as a young wine, but it has the plump Poyferré terroir drive to sustain that pleasure for years to come." - Wine & Spirits 95 Pts
- Wine Advocate 93 Pts - Wine Enthusiast 95 Pts    $ 179.99
