Italian Wine Sale and Celebration!
Italy has about as many wines as it's had governments. With 20 different regions, hundreds of DOCs and even more indigenous varieties, the amount of wine made in Italy is mind-boggling.

For regions, the most popular are Tuscany (home of Chianti), Piedmont and the Tre-Venezie, which includes Veneto, Trentino Alto-Adige and Friuli. Other communes of note are in Southern Italy, and a few good wines are made elsewhere in the country. The islands of Sardinia and Sicily are members of the Italian winemaking community as well. We've selected some from our favorite Importers to showcase here!

SIEMA PINOT GRIGIO 2008, ITALY
This is a bright, crisp Pinot Grigio with hints of grapefruit and sage. From a small family vineyard in the region of Venice, this is an EXCEPTIONAL Value!    ON SALE - $ 8.98

PALAZZONE DUBINI BIANCO 2008, ITALY
Blend of Procanico and Grechetto, this wine is light-bodied, crisp, slightly fruity and wonderfully refreshing with a delicate straw-yellow color and enticing bouquet. Delightful with simple fish and shellfish dishes, it is also perfect by the glass.
Winemaker's Notes    ON SALE - $ 11.98

DI LENARDO PINOT GRIGIO 2008, ITALY
Bouquet is very pleasant with a good array of varietal aromas such as pear Williams, banana, apricot and Acacia flowers. Taste is reminiscent of pear syrup and quince peel. Good acid balance good body and long finish. Mature wines have a bouquet of toasted almonds and straw.

A good partner for starters, baked rice and pasta, egg-based dishes or fish.    $ 11.99

MICHELE CHIARLO BARBERA D'ASTI SUPERIORE LE ORME 2007, ITALY
Barbera d'Asti is intense ruby red, with intense aromas, good structure and well-balanced. Due to the perfect phenolic maturation of the grapes and the well balanced sugar content, we have a extraordinary quality. On the nose it shows itself to be rich in ripe fruit and possesses a marked elegance; on the palate it is pleasantly easy to drink, harmonious and tasty. The aforementioned features make it a modern wine, highly successful and suitable for serving with the widest range of dishes.    $ 14.99

ROCCHE COSTAMAGNA ARNEIS 2008, ITALY
Arneis is the flagship white wine of the Piemonte region around Barolo and Barbaresco. Rocche Costamagna's version of Arneis is a fine introduction to the varietal. Like most Arneis, this is a round, soft, wine that retains enough acidity to stay refreshing. Pear and dried apricot fruit mingles with something close to nectarine. The finish is long and complex. This would be great with many chicken dishes or richer seafood.
GOLD MEDAL WINNER    $ 14.99

LUCIGNANO CHIANTI COLLI FIORENTINI 2007, ITALY
A stellar vintage. Medium intensity ruby red. The nose on this wine is intense, overflowing with fruity aromas of black cherry and violets. Soft and medium bodied on the palate it balances rather present tannins with moderate acidity. An ideal accompaniement to pasta dishes, medium aged cheese.    ON SALE - $ 16.98

CANTINA SANTADI VERMENTINO VILLA SOLAIS 2008, ITALY
This fresh, delicate white from the indigenous Vermentino grape is characterized by wonderful aromas and flavors of ripe tropical fruits and a roundness on the palate. It has a lovely pale, straw-yellow color. Immediately apparent on the nose is the grape's signature salinity along with seductive anjou pear and orange blossom aromas. On the palate, it's got more pear, some Fuji apple, citrus, a bit of cantaloupe and that wonderful clean, salty quality    $ 16.99

CANTINA DEL TABURNO FALANGHINA 2008, ITALY
"Cantina del Taburno is one of Campania's most promising estates. The winery is a cooperative and quality can be variable, but the top wines compete with the best being made anywhere." -- Wine Advocate, Feb 2008

Crisp and fruity, this is an absolutely delightful wine! The falanghina grape can be tasted in perfect purity, with notes of almond blossom, lemon, and fresh nectarine. Perfect for light meals, appetizers, and just by the glass, this is a wine that will appeal to everyone!    ON SALE - $ 18.98

POGGIO AL CASONE LA CATTURA TOSCANA 2006, ITALY
this unique Tuscan wine is made of 90% Teroldego and 10% Syrah grown using organic viticulture. With its juicy, ripe mid-palate of violets, blackberries and raspberries, and supple, long finish, we believe that this great red manages to remain traditional and balanced with 12.5% alcohol, yet provide the smooth, fruit-driven style that many wine drinkers are looking for.

Shows freshly sliced plum, with crushed raspberry, almost peach. Full-bodied, with soft, velvety tannins and a long, clean and crisp finish. Hard not to drink now. A fascinating wine. Teroldego and Syrah. Drink now. Only 1,500 cases made. Wine Spectator 90 Pts    $ 18.99

PALAZZONE ORVIETO TERRE VINEATE 2008, ITALY
Giovanni Dubini tackles the delicate art of adjusting the proportions of the five different grape varieties allowed in Orvieto D.O.C. The "Terre Vineate" shows a deep straw-yellow colour. It has an elegant, vivid bouquet with a definite scent of hazelnut. The impact on the palate is intense yet refreshingly dry and the finish is a perfect balance between the perfume of the fruits and a touch of bitterness. Terre Vineate is a wine for pasta dishes, for meat accompanied by rich sauce and for fish cooked in piquant fashion.

"Unquestionably the number one small estate of Orvieto" -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar    $ 18.99
