BROCHELLE ZINFANDEL PASO ROBLES 2009, CALIFORNIA
This vintage is yet another richly layered wine with an intensely aromatic nose, round and lush in the mouth. Displays an array of complex berry fruits and an abundance of strawberry jam. This deeply hued vintage is another in the long line of our signature Zins that are velvety, voluptuous and densely textured. Very low yields in the vineyard again in 2009 imparted all of the best attributes necessary for a true classic: balance, elegance, intensity, and complexity. Long hang times and textbook acidities ensured this vintage graceful aging for years to come.
~Drink now and until 2022.

VILLA CREEK CELLARS GRENACHE PASO ROBLES 2009, CALIFORNIA
The grapes off the steep, south facing three-acre block of Grenache at Denner Vineyard yield an amazing variety of flavors from top to bottom. Soils, exposure and elevation are just different enough from top to bottom, that the grapes require three different harvest dates. Concrete fermentors were employed for the first time in 2009, to bring additional softness and minerality to the Grenache. Color: Magenta. Aromatics: Candied pomegranate, anise, mountain strawberries, spice and aged pork fat. Palate: Seductive red fruits, rose petal and spice are framed with moderate acidity and tannin.

ORIN SWIFT DEPT 66 2009, FRANCE
80% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 8% Carignan. The small town of Maury is in the outer Roussillon very close to the Spanish border and nestled in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The majority of the vines were planted more than 60 years ago, with many of the vineyards being even older. Aged in 100% French Oak, 25% new for 12 months. The wine has a very dark, opaque red color with subtle aromas of toasted oak, ripe blueberry jam and dried rose petal. The entry is mouth coating and lush. Opulent plum and ultra ripe cherry are balanced with asian spices and a bright vein of minerality and acidity that give great structure, weight and balance to the long finish. The tannin chains are long and will lend to ageability for 5 to 10 years.

Peach, pear and a touch of pineapple integrate with creamy vanilla. This full-bodied wine has a velvety and lingering mouth feel. Our favorite pairing for this wine includes pasta primavera, halibut and grilled chicken.

DONNAFUGATA TANCREDI 2006, ITALY
The estate harvests Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Nero d'Avola (70%) during the month of September. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in new and second passage, French-oak barrels for 12-14 months. The two varieties fuse in fine style. The Cabernet gives the Nero d'Avola a touch of mint, enriching its substantial supply of scents. Notes of licorice, cacao, cherries and bilberries against a sweetish background. The flavors are well-structured, full, absorbing and remarkably persistent. It is the perfect marriage of new and old world. Rich yet subtle. Great with pasta, meats and stews.

MI SUENO CELLARS CAB EL LLANO 2008, CALIFORNIA
We recently hosted a tasting of high-end California wines and this was one of the stand-outs among top competition. It is without question one of the best California red blends we've come across in many years. "Mi Sueño" is Spanish for "My Dream" and it is produced by brothers Raul and Ricardo Herrera. Their wines are the end result of many years of working and making wine at some of the top wineries in California. Raul was the winemaker for Paul Hobbs and his brother Ricardo was the cellar master at Dominus and assistant winemaker at Screaming Eagle. This winery is their dream come true of producing world class wines - and they have succeeded brilliantly.
This is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Syrah, from vineyards near Caldwell's in the Coombsville area of Napa. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and depth while the Syrah contributes color and aromatics. In the end, what you get is an incredibly luscious, full-bodied, multi-layered, deeply concentrated wine that can proudly stand up against wines bearing much heftier price tags! Expressing notes of molasses, freshly-cracked pepper and a dash of pilonsillo. Deep and dark, with cedar components and focused dark fruits both on the nose and palate. Long, solid and balanced, with just enough oak to compliment but not dominate.
Wow - what a wine! It is deep, dark, purple-black in color and loaded with a bouquet of rich red and black fruit. Accented by an explosion of exotic spice, dark chocolate, graphite, ground pepper and roasted espresso beans. Luscious and velvety on the palate, it shows an impeccable balance between richness and balance with great concentration and ripe-polished tannins. A hint of warm toasty oak contributes to a long, satisfying finish. One of the best Cabernet blends you'll drink from California - a real blockbuster!
