DOM DE MENARD HAUT CUVEE MARINE 2009, FRANCE
The grapes in this value wine are mainly Columbard and Ugni Blanc (a.k.a Trebbiano). CASTILLO PERELADA BLANC PESCADOR NV, SPAIN
Castillo de Perelada is located in the center of the Empordà Plain north of Barcelona. During its fermentation, this wine obtains a fine, natural sparkle, which is called vino de aguja, or needle-wine. Clean, fresh, crisp, dry and slightly sparkling wine of a faint greenish-yellow color with a pleasant fruity aroma and balanced taste to the palate. An 11% alcohol blend of Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo. This elegant light wine is ideal for appetizers, shellfish and all types of seafood. Hence its brand name, Blanc Pescador, white fisherman.    ON SALE - $ 10.98

FRISK PRICKLEY RIESLING & MUSCAT 2009, AUSTRALIA
This delightfuly refreshing wine is a blend of 83% Riesling, sourced from vines grown in the King Valley at the base of the Victorian Alps, and 17% Muscat Gordo that is from old vines in the Riverland. The fruit is chilled, crushed, pressed and fermented very cold and very slowly, then chilled to pull up the ferment and trap a small amount of natural carbon dioxide. Loosely based on an older German style, the wine is bright and lively with a slight sweetness and palate cleansing acidity. The nose sings with lime, apricot and peach that follow on the palate with a touch of a "prickly" texture. Also, as the weather warms up, this 8.7 % ABV wine will prove a classic summer sipper. Pair this with some young cheeses or spicy Asian food and you're good to go.    ON SALE - $ 10.98

D'ARENBERG VIOG/MARSANNE THE HERMIT CRAB ADELAIDE 2008, AUSTRALIA
This is one of our favorite white wines in the store, period!  It is a blend of 72% Viognier and 28% Marsanne - both traditionally French grapes that the Aussie's are producing with great results at much less the cost. The wine is fresh, bright and lifted with a bouquet that explodes from the glass with white peach, spicy pear, white flowers, almond and finishes with a mineral note. Just yummy!

This wine is named for the elusive crab that lives on the coasts nearby as well as the large supply of fossilized crustaceans that can be found in the vineyards for this tasty wine. Fragrant and alluring on the nose, with honeysuckle, ripe peaches and pears, as well as a long almond oil note.

"Expressive aromatics of lime and lemon with peaches, pears and apricot stone jumping out of the glass and spicy, floral notes in the background. Great balance on the palate, the luscious stone fruit and ginger spices harmonized by savory nuty characters from the Marsanne. Wonderful combination of freshness, complexity and balance between fruit flavor." A delicious crowd pleaser.
- IWC 89 Pts    ON SALE - $ 12.98

CASTELO DE MEDINA VERDEJO RUEDA 2008, SPAIN
Castelo de Medina is an amazing wine with a very good structure and terroir in both nose and mouth. Castelo de Medina is fresh, lively and very aromatic, filled with fruits like pears, mangos, pineapple, lemon and mineral notes typical of the Verdejo grapes. It is incredibly fresh with a well structured body, balanced with a crisp acidity and citris hints. This is a great wine for all kinds of appetizers, seafood or chicken, paella and tapas. Verdejo was used in the past for 'solera' wines, very aged and over oxidized, but nowadays, the young Verdejos are fruity, fresh and crisp with great body.    ON SALE - $ 12.98

CASTLE ROCK PINOT NOIR CALIFORNIA CUVEE 2009, CALIFORNIA
Castle Rock Pinot Noir is produced from grapes grown in a carefully selected group of California vineyards. The wine is elegant and medium-bodied, offering aromas of cherry, tea and herbal spice. On the palate it is smooth with a silky texture and mild tannins, giving flavors of black cherry, plum and spice, and finishing long and harmoniously, This versatile food wine pairs well with lamb, veal, salmon and light pasta dishes.

Here's what The Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine has to say about Castle Rock Pinot Noir, "Year in and year out, Castle Rock leads the way with value priced Pinot Noir, and while not every wine works out in every vintage, there is nevertheless no one else that delivers the same rewards for the money as this outfit. Among the new releases, this one is our favorite for its medium ripe black cherry focus and decent, somewhat rounded and accessible feel on the palate. It is one to keep front of mind for everyday drinking. GOOD VALUE"

"Nice core of ripe red fruit and medium (almost full) body; engaging spicy notes echo on the smooth and velvety finish." - Beverage Dynamics 90 Pts and 4 Stars    ON SALE - $ 12.98

ERIC BORDELET SIDRE BRUT TENDRE, FRANCE
Fermented almost bone dry, this is the traditional style of cider for the region. It is very fresh, and like all of Bordelet's ciders, it tastes like you're biting into the fruit. This is a wonderful drink that will marry well with most cheeses, and just about anything that you would drink beer or wine with. The classic accompaniment, of course, is the savory crêpes from Brittany and Normandy. ORGANIC    ON SALE - $ 13.98

MOHUA SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009, NEW ZEALAND
Light green in color. The nose shows tropical and citrus fruits along with herbaceous varietal characters. The palate is generous and fruit driven with classical Marlborough acidity giving structure and length. A fresh and fruit driven Sauvignon Blanc perfect for drinking now. Wine Spectator 88 Pts    ON SALE - $ 14.98

ADEGAS GRAN VINUM ALBARINO NESSA 2009, SPAIN
It's time for bracing and tasty white wine. Spanish Albarinio. The winery is located in Galicia, in northwest Spain, right on the border with Portugal and on the Atlantic Ocean. Our favorite vintage yet!! This delightful Spanish import is a definite beach or deck wine. It leaves your mouth tingling with stony, salty acidity. Racy, focused orchard and citrus flavors show excellent spine and thrust. The texture is lovely, with a contrasting white peach fruitiness and round flavors of lime. Pour it with a plate of fish, garlicy dishes and other summer shellfish.    ON SALE - $ 14.98

KLJ CELLARS CHARDONNAY SANTA BARBARA 2008, CALIFORNIA
Burgundian in sensibility but with California style is one way of describing Jim Porter's (formally William James) Chardonnays- Structure and restraint melded with bountiful opulence is another. In the glass, buttery brioche marries with tropical fruits in an irresistible elixir that will leave the bottle drained before you know it. Try it with salmon or crab cakes for a match of delicacy and richness.    ON SALE - $ 15.98
