Finewine.com is thrilled to welcome Gilmer Grattan, Export Manager of Faisao Winery, for a special Friday evening wine tasting.  Gilmer will pour five Portuguese wines for your FREE tasting, wines covering classic wine categories of northern Portugal: Vinho Verde, Vinho Verde Rose, Douro Red Blends, and Port.  Gilmer will start with a pair of Vinho Verdes from Faisao, one white, one rose.  These light, crisp wines are fantastic for porch-pounding or for pairing with seafood or other light dishes.  Next he'll pour a pair of red blends from the Douro, Faisao's Douro Red, and Quinta de la Rosa's Dourosa Red Blend.  These examples of the art of blending combine native Portuguese grapes to create a rich, seamless blend.  Finally, Gilmer will share a super example of the great sweet fortified wine of Portugal: Port.  Quinta de la Rosa's Ten-Year Tonel Tawny Port is a lovely rich, amber-hued beauty, with rich hints of spice, toffee, and vanilla or chocolate- depending on your taste!

Finewine.com welcomes Rob Garretson of Global Wines, who will pour four wines from their international portfolio for a FREE afternoon wine tasting.  We'll start with two great new sparkling wines that offer an interesting contrast.  The first, Stellar Organics Sparkling Chenin Blanc, is a fully organic, fruity sparkling wine from South Africa; the second is the Louis Vallon Cremant de Bordeaux, a champagne-method sparkler from Bordeaux that offers more classically dry, champagne-like flavors.  Then we'll sample two red wines, both of them from Spain, and featuring the great red grape of Spain, Tempranillo.  Pepe Yllera Red is a smooth red from the classic region of Ribera del Duero, and it will be followed by Lobetia's Tempranillo-Petit Verdot blend, the latter a fully organic blend in which the addition of Petit Verdot enhances the wine's color and structure.   And as always you'll get at least 10% off all of the wines we taste!
