FREE SATURDAY INTERNATIONAL WINE TASTING

Highly-rated wines from Austria, South Africa, France, and Australia!   SATURDAY, 1-4:30 PM

Finewine.com welcomes Eric Platt of Artisans and Vines, who will pour four highly-rated wines from his international portfolio for a FREE afternoon wine tasting.  We'll start with a beautiful Austrian white, Lustig's 2020 Gruner Veltliner, a wine that was recently featured by Dave McIntyre of the Washington Post.  Then we'll transition to three stellar reds from different parts of the globe.  The first is Domaine Lucien Tramier's Cairanne, a classic blend of Grenache and Syrah from France's Southern Rhone Valley.  Next, we'll move to the Southern Hemisphere for two reds that perfectly represent their origins.  The first, Ridgeback's Lionhound Cabernet Sauvignon, is a very pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa's Paarl Region.  The second, Zonte's Footstep Chocolate Factory Shiraz, is a great expression of Australian Shiraz that perfectly reflects the wine's name- showing a touch of black cherry, mocha, and a characteristic hint of milk chocolate!  And as always, you'll get at least 10% off all of the wines we taste!

This Wine Spectator 91-Pt Shiraz is an Amazing Value!

YALUMBA'S 2019 "Y SERIES" SHIRAZ IS ONLY $14.98!

“Wild berry, anise-infused plum and black cherry flavors are fleshy and juicy, with notes of chocolate-covered espresso bean and fresh rosemary lingering on the finish.”   - Wine Spectator, 91 points

In a world where everything (including wine) seems to be either out of stock or increasing in price, genuine bargains are rare.  So this is an auspicious time to rediscover wines such as those of Yalumba's "Y Series", which are among the most reliably high-value wines in the world.  Today's feature is the new vintage of one of the most consistent wines of this line- Yalumba's 2019 Y Series Shiraz from South Australia.  The Y Series line is part of Yalumba's entry-level lineup, but don't let that fool you- those tough raters at the Wine Spectator rated the 2019 Shiraz 91 points for a reason!  And at our sale price of only $14.98, you will struggle to find a better Shiraz anywhere at this price!!!

Yalumba is Australia's most historic family-owned winery, founded in the mid-19th century in the heart of the famed Barossa region.  Yalumba cultivates some of the oldest vineyards in the world in Barossa Valley, the most important wine-producing region of Australia.  Those very-old-vine wines are quite pricey, but Yalumba also specializes in some of the most consistently impressive values in the world of fine wine- particularly their "Y-Series" wines.  In a world where wine price inflation makes hunting for bargains a little like cryptozoology, Yalumba's 2019 Y Series Shiraz is the real deal- a world-class wine at a truly affordable price.  And while inexpensive, this Y-Series Shiraz is a bigger wine than you might expect, clocking in at a full 14.5% alcohol.  But it carries its alcohol lightly- on the finish, instead of alcohol, you get a combination of black pepper, dark chocolate, and spice- and it's just as delicious as it sounds!  If you've never tasted one of the Y-Series wines, this is the one to try: it's simply a great wine at a great price.
