The Pinot Family: The First Family of Wine

November 10 & 11 @ 7PM

As many as 12 classic wines with light fare to complement them!

In the world of fine wine, “Pinot” starts some of the most familiar names in the business, such as Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio, and all grapes with the “Pinot” prefix are in fact closely related.  These grapes form what we're calling the “First Family” of wine- a family that includes Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris (AKA, Pinot Grigio), and of course, Pinot Noir.  Pinot Noir is the acknowledged star of the family, source of some of the greatest red wines in both the old world and the new.  But though less well-known to American consumers, Pinot Noir’s lighter-skinned siblings produce some of the world’s great white wines.  In this class we’ll explore these three great grapes, and sample great examples from regions as disparate as France’s Burgundy, America’s Willamette Valley, the Alsace region of France, and Italy’s Alto Adige (and yes, a very high-quality Pinot Grigio- Italian for Pinot Gris- may make an appearance).

So join us in November for the next in our series of wine classes: “Pinot- The First Family of Wine”.  We’ll taste and compare as many as 12 classic wines, and we’ll offer some light hors d’oeuvres to complement the wines.  Tasting classes at Finewine.com are geared to both beginners and experienced wine aficionados alike, and this class will truly offer a little something for everyone.  So join the expert Finewine.com staff as we explore the fantastic family of grapes that gives rise to some of the world's greatest wines.  Come taste, learn, discuss and enjoy!
