JUST A FEW SEATS LEFT

Blending is perhaps the highest art in the creation of fine wine- the often painstaking, iterative process of analyzing, tasting, and mixing different lots of wine to create a harmonious whole that maximizes what’s achievable in a given vintage.  In rare instances - such as in Champagne- blending transcends the limits of a given vintage and involves combinations of base wines produced in multiple vintages.

Blends fall into two broad categories- those recognized as worldwide benchmarks, and those that utilize more eclectic and offbeat grape combinations.  The former includes such well-known examples as Bordeaux and Rhone Blends (red and white), Champagne blends, and the blends of Rioja, Chianti and Italy’s Veneto region.  In contrast, eclectic blends are, by their nature, impossible to categorize- these off-beat combinations must be experienced as the individuals that they are!

So join the expert staff of Finewine.com for our March wine class- “The Art of Blending: Great Red and White Blends”.  We’ll taste and compare blends from all over the world, with light hors d’oeuvres to complement the wines.  Tasting classes at Finewine.com are geared to both beginners and wine aficionados alike, to those who want to learn more about wine, and those who just want to relax and enjoy.  So come and explore some of the world’s great blended wines- come taste, learn, discuss and enjoy!
