FREE ITALIAN WINE TASTING AT FINEWINE.COM!

FIVE of our Italian favorites- all on sale!  SATURDAY, 1-4:30 PM!!

Banville's Ben Ferril will pour five of our favorite Italian wines at Finewine.com this Saturday for a FREE afternoon wine tasting!  We'll sample five wines- 2 whites, a rose, and two reds!  We'll start with two classic whites- the Pala Vermentino di Sardegna, a lovely Sardinian white, followed by the soul-satisfying Farina Soave, made from the Garganega grape.  Next we'll move to a Tuscan Sangiovese, but in this case a rare rose from the classic Tuscan grape- the Ali Toscana Rosato!   Finally, we'll conclude with two lovely reds, the first, the Farina Veneto Rosso, a northern Italian blend of the grapes typically seen in Valpolicella and Amarone.  We'll conclude with a rare treat- a well-aged, yet still affordable red, the Copertino Riserva 2011.  This full-flavored southern Italian red is mainly from the negroamaro grape, and we think it'll be unlike anything you've tasted recently!

As always you'll get at least 10% off all of the wines we taste!

2020 Duck Hunter Sauvignon Blanc is highly-rated, hard-to-find, and new to Finewine.com!

94 pts from WRO, 90 pts from WS, on sale now for only 18.98!

"This wine consistently crosses my table at wine competitions where I’m tasked with writing reviews of the best wines sent forward by the judging panels.  This new vintage is a worthy successor to an already distinguished line, with fresh citrus, mild grass, bright stony minerality, and a sexy texture that finishes with a zesty pop. For me, it expresses all of Marlborough’s best elements." — Rich Cook, Wine Review Online, 94 points

"White grapefruit, lemon curd and lime sherbet flavors are mouthwatering and intense, with lemon verbena and fresh ginger details on the finish." —Wine Spectator, 90 points

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world's most popular wine categories, especially during the summer, when its thirst-quenching crispness and lively flavors are the perfect antidotes to summer heat and humidity.  Finewine.com has a rotating line-up of NZ Sauvignon Blancs that have stood the test of time, but occasionally a new entrant gains admission to the club.  Today's addition is Duck Hunter Sauvignon Blanc, a distinctive white that is highly rated by Wine Spectator year after year, yet surprisingly difficult to find.  So we are happy to have obtained an initial supply of the highly-rated 2020 vintage.  Whether (or when) we can get more is not yet certain, so don't delay!  At our sale price of $18.98, we don't know how long this will last!

Duck Hunter is sourced exclusively from the highly-esteemed Marlborough region of New Zealand (at the northeastern tip of the southern island).  However, unlike some other top-notch Sauvignon Blancs, it's split between the two major sub-regions, with 60% sourced from the Wairau Valley and 40% from the Awatere Valley sub-regions of Marlborough.  The results are classic, and demonstrate exactly why NZ Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world's most appealing wines.  Citrus?  Check, with notes of lemon zest or, if you prefer, lemon sherbet!  Tropical fruit?  Check, with exotic notes of...papaya?  Stone fruit?  Check!  We noted distinct elements of apricot and peach.  Complexity?  Check!  Gooseberry, spice, and ginger notes all make an appearance.  Bright acidity?  Check!  Duck Hunter bathes your palate in a refreshing crispness that escorts the lively flavors through the finish- hence, the "sexy texture" as described by Wine Review Online.

The 2020 Duck Hunter Sauvignon Blanc is likely a wine you've never tasted; none of our staff here at Finewine.com had encountered Duck Hunter before we were able to taste the current vintage.  But after this introduction, it just might become a favorite- if we are able to obtain a consistent supply.  Resupply is uncertain, and won't happen before October at any rate, so why not try this classic wine while our initial supply lasts?  Duck Hunter holds its own against higher-priced Sauvignon Blancs from around the globe, and it might just become one of your new favorites!  Order online now, call 301-987-5933, or stop by the store today!
