FREE RIOJA TASTING WITH JOHN PERRY, EXPORT MANAGER OF BODEGA CARLOS SERRES!

FIVE wines, including a Rioja Blanco and a Rioja Rose!  SATURDAY, 1-4:30 PM!!

John Perry, Worldwide Export Manager of Bodega Carlos Serres, will pour five Rioja wines at Finewine.com this Saturday for a FREE afternoon wine tasting!  Carlos Serres is a benchmark producer in Spain's famous Rioja region, and their wines represent classic categories that help keep the Rioja name famous.  We'll start with some wines that you may not expect from Rioja- a Rioja Blanco (white), a Rioja Rosado (Rose), and a value-based red classified simply as an "Old Vines Tempranillo", also fully sourced from Rioja.  John will then pour two classic Rioja Reds- Carlos Serres' Rioja Crianza, and their delicious Rioja Reserva.  John Perry is the perfect person to present and explain these wines; the child of an American mother and a Spanish father, he himself has lived in both America and Rioja, Spain, and is one of the great ambassadors for Rioja wine throughout the world.  Come enjoy his wines, and pick his brain!

As always you'll get at least 10% off all of the wines we taste!

THIS GREAT 93-PT BORDEAUX IS BACK AT A GREAT NEW PRICE!!
Not only is Chateau Castegens 2016 finally back- it's now at an even more amazing price of only $20.98!

"This solid, concentrated wine has everything in the right place. It has the power of the vintage, showing firm tannins, rich black fruits and acidity. The wine will develop slowly and surely and should be ready from 2023." --Wine Enthusiast, 93 pts and Editor's Choice

Bordeaux is the world's most collectible red wine, the pillar of many (if not most) great wine cellars, and the perfect match for big meaty dishes such as steak or lamb.  But great Bordeaux increasingly commands prohibitive prices, so we at Finewine.com are constantly searching for a Bordeaux Rouge that displays patrician greatness at a plebian price.  Chateau Castegens is a Bordeaux Rouge that we sold out of last November, but we not only have achieved resupply on this great Bordeaux, we have obtained the wine at a new lower price!  As a reminder, the 2016 vintage of Castegens is something special- simply the greatest ever from this beautiful estate.  It was a fantastic bargain at our original sale price of $22.98, but it's an absolute steal at our new price of $20.98!  As a reminder, most Bordeaux that rate this highly price above $50!!  Rest assured, this wine delivers exactly what admirers of Bordeaux seek- richness, depth, structure and ageability, although we can confirm that it is drinking beautifully right now!  One caveat- we ran out of it last time, and while we currently have supply, please don't delay.  At some point the great 2016 vintage will be gone!

Château Castegens and its vineyards have been in the same family for 160 years, and the chateau itself dates to the 15th century.  This ancient edifice overlooks the Dordogne valley, adjacent to its prestigious neighbor Saint Emilion, only 8 km away. The vineyards are planted on predominantly south facing slopes which provide excellent drainage and sun exposure. There are 70 acres under vine, producing 80% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon- unsusprisingly, a blend very reminiscent of the wines of Saint Emilion.

Wine Enthusiast's description of the 2016 Chateau Castegens sounds like the description of a pricy classified growth: "From vines on the slopes of its castle, a witness to the 1453 end of the Hundred Years' War, this solid, concentrated wine has everything in the right place. It has the power of the vintage, showing firm tannins, rich black fruits and acidity. The wine will develop slowly and surely and should be ready from 2023."  Wine Enthusiast awarded the wine 93 pts, as well as a prestigious "Editor's Choice" selection.

Chateau Castegens is another selection from our friends at Kysela, who provide some of the best values in the wine business.  And make no mistake: this is a world-class value.  You may be able to find a few Bordeaux that are better, and you can find some that are less expensive, but you won't find a better Bordeaux in this price range- especially at our new spectacular sale price of only $20.98/bottle!  Stop by the store or order online today!
