Bordeaux.  The very word conjures up images of expensive bottles of red wine aging in stately stone cellars.  And Bordeaux is indeed home to some of the world’s most distinguished and age-worthy reds, yet the wines of Bordeaux are more varied than you may know.  They include white blends that range from light, crisp and quaffable, to big and beautifully defined, usually featuring the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.  The red wines of Bordeaux are also more diverse than they may at first appear.  Not only do they range from easy-drinking and approachable to layered and powerful, but the “Bordeaux Blend” produces different results in different parts of this large and geographically diverse region, with different grapes (usually Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon) taking the lead.  And Bordeaux is also home to some of the world’s greatest dessert wines!

So join the expert staff of Finewine.com for our September wine class, “The Wines of Bordeaux, where we’ll taste and compare as many as twelve classic wines from what many consider the greatest wine region in the world.  We will taste a range of wines from throughout the region’s numerous sub-appellations, with light hors d’oeuvres to complement.  Like all Finewine.com wine classes, this class will be geared to both beginners and experienced wine aficionados alike!  Come taste, learn, discuss and enjoy!
