Most wine drinker's don't (and shouldn't) live by critics' scores alone, but they can be a great starting point for exploring fine wine. The most talked about wines in the world today are those that score 90 points or higher on the 100-point scale. They have been judged "Outstanding" or better by the most influential wine publications and critics in the world —— Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator magazine, Wine Enthusiast, Antonio Galloni's Vinous, the UK's Decanter magazine, etc. Such ratings can have a tremendous impact on prices, as collectors snap up the most highly-rated wines as soon as the ratings are published, and prices climb. But we've still been about to find a great selection of these outstanding wines that are still affordable for everyday drinking! [NOTE: Wines that earn 85 to 89 points are deemed "Very Good" by the reviewers, and many of our wines are from smaller producers that don't have the scale to be noticed by the name-brand critics. Points should only be on factor in choosing wine.] |
